Flower Arranging
The Chinese were the first to put water in a bowl of fresh flowers and the Japanese made flower arranging into a meditative art. Today, you can bring some basic flowers arranging skills to your table and create simple, elegant centerpieces or decor.
Keep these tips in mind when creating your floral centerpiece.
- Keep your floral arrangements on a table low, so that your do not block guest from interacting with one another.
- Consider small individual vases with one or two sprigs or a flower, like an orchid alternating with candles to create a beautiful ambience.
- Remember that balance is important to flower arrangements. Darker, more vivid colors will appear heavier to the eye.
- Odd numbers, 3 or 5 stems of a flower make it easier to create symmetry in your arrangement.
- Keeping the number of elements (greenery and flowers) to a minimum will allow the simple beauty of each flower to show through.
